Date: 12 March 2026
Location: Zoom Online Meeting
Presenter John Breitbart

  • Advanced AI is coming! Years, not decades.
  • Is your job safe? Are there any safe jobs?
  • Privacy Loss could make you a target.
  • Truth vs Disinformation — AI allows total fakery in videos easy
  • Chatbot addiction and suicide risk
  • Could Fascism result from AI Mass Unemployment?
  • Runaway AI military developments. More wars? Deadlier Wars?
  • AI impact — concentration of wealth and power in fewer hands?
  • Could Super AI overpower humans?
  • Can AI be regulated? By whom? For whom?

With the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) we live in an age of technological innovation that is unique in human history. Soon, a huge range of jobs and professions will replace humans with either computers or robots.

The budgetary benefits of this “Great Replacement” may hit society like an economic cyclone. When unemployment rockets, what will be the impact on people who work on all levels of income when the pink slip arrives? Protest and political unrest might prompt Orwellian government responses.

Some dangers of AI concern the ease with which individuals can be identified as security risks. Privacy has already been lost substantially in China, with its Social Credit system. Are American corporations and government agencies far behind? Another individual AI risks concern chatbots leading to addiction and in come cases suicide.

Societal impacts of AI are larger in scale: rapid changes in job insecurity as mentioned above; rapid changes in economic markets; fast evolving military tactics and strategy might destabilize relations between nations, leading to new forms of war that are difficult to predict.

The big question is what happens if super intelligent programs decide that humans are unnecessary and wasteful? If such AI systems develop agency and sentience, they could consider humans their next problem to solve.

The final question in this presentation involves civics. What steps need to be taken so that political processes can regulate the deployment of this revolutionary technology? What policies will protect the public’s interest?
